Many people have worked all their lives, and suddenly they become ill and are no longer able to work. What do you do? Well, one of the options is to apply for Social Security Disability. To be eligible for Social Security Disability, your medical condition must prevent you from working your job – the job you did in the past – and all other jobs.
How Social Security Disability is Different
So, it is unlike another form of Disability, like Workers Compensation. Social Security Disability you must be disabled from any job. That disability must last for at least a year or result in death. There is no such thing as short-term or partial disability under the Social Security Disability system.
